Successful online business owners know they need a sales funnel to sell products or services thus bringing revenue into their businesses.  If you are new to online business, you might be wondering how do I create a sales funnel?  I have no idea where to start!  Fear not my friend, in this blog post, I am sharing how to create a sales funnel in three easy steps.

If you are super dedicated, you can whip out your first sales funnel in just a few short days.  Let’s get started.

What Makes Up A Sales Funnel

Sales funnels are under the umbrella of marketing and sales.  A good sales funnel takes potential customers/clients on a journey.

The potential client/customer is introduced to your business through a lead capture process.  You offer a freebie or lead magnet that provides value and a quick win in exchange for contact information.  Once the potential client/customer gets to know who you are and what you offer, you pitch your product/service.

The product/service is designed to solve a problem or fulfill a need.  Through sales copy and call to action, you inform the potential client/customer why they need and should purchase your product/service.  When they purchase it, you make a sale and have successfully converted a lead into a customer.

The Three Parts Of An Easy Sales Funnel

Let’s get this party started by giving you the three steps to get your shiny sales funnel up and running as quickly as possible.

Step #1: Lead Magnet or Opt-in

In this first step, you create something to give away in exchange for contact information most often an email address.  This lead magnet should be designed to solve a problem, provide a quick win, and introduce the potential client/customer to your business.  Make sure you offer massive value and impress your newly acquired leads!

Step #2: Email Marketing

After you’ve got the potential client/customer’s email address, make sure you are following up with a sequence of emails designed to build the know, like, and trust factor.  People purchase from businesses they know, like, and trust.  Don’t pitch right away! Take time to send a few emails about your business and point to other free valuable content you offer.  Build that relationship first!

Once you have introduced yourself and warmed up the potential client/customer, they will be ready for your sales pitch.  This is also a series of emails you send.  Make sure your call to action is clear and that a sense of urgency is created.  You want potential clients/customers to be persuaded to buy.

Step #3: Sales Page

Okay, you’ve managed to get the leads for new potential clients/customers, you’ve warmed them up with a nurturing email sequence and they have now received your sales pitch.  To make the sale, you direct the potential client/customer to a sales page.  This page is designed to convert visitors into paying customers.

The sales page should include the following components:

  • A description of the problem your product/service solves
  • Why they (potential client/customer) need this product/service
  • Clear information on what is included
  • How much the product/service costs
  • FAQ
  • Addressing objections or reasons a potential client/customer might not buy
  • Testimonials or social proof from others who have used the product/service and loved it
  • A shopping cart or way to purchase and complete the sale process
